The truth behind the words

Chocolate Rain: The Meaining

"...some stay dry and others feel the pain..."
some races are immune to injustices while Black seem to be the target of unfair treatment

"...a baby born will die before the sin..."
these injustices will, most likely, exist for a very long time; even after the lifespan of a newborn baby has ended

"...the school books say 'it can't be here again'..."
institutionalized education promulgates racial equality

"...the prisons make you wonder where it went..."
with countless, innocent Blacks unjustly incarcerated, where is racial equality?

"...forecast to be falling yesterday..."
some people admit and acknowledge that injustices happened in the past, but insist that those "rainy" days do not exist now

"...'only in the past' is what they say..."
some people say that racism and unfairness against Blacks only exist in history

"...build a tent and say 'the world is dry'..."
you can shelter yourself from racism and pretend it does not exist; head-in-the-sand syndrome

"...zoom the camera out and see the lie..."
but when you consider the racial facts of the world as a whole, you will see all the propaganda

"...made me cross the street the other day..."
the protagonist avoids situations which will incite racists into their heinous acts

"...made you turn your head the other way..."
because some people tend to ignore the crimes that racists commit against innocent Blacks

"...raised your neighborhood insurance rates..."
geographic racial composition is a leading factor that results in higher premiums for some people

"...makes us happy livin' in a gate..."
some Blacks prefer living in segregated communities over living with abusive racists and economical gouging

"...every February washed away..."
racial injustices seem to nullify the progress Blacks have made; as observed during February

"...stays behind as colors celebrate..."
racism seems to fall away when Blacks and other people of color commemorate their own achievements

"...the same crime has a higher price to pay..."
corrupt judicial systems slant in favor of a certain race of people

"...the judge and jury swear it's not the face..."
even though the court system claims equal, blind justice for all despite race

"...across the world and back it's all the same..."
racism against Blacks can be found the world over

"...angels cry and shake their heads in shame..."
innocent people are offended and disgusted by supremists who perpetuate racism against Blacks

"...lifts the ark of paradise in sin..."
America was built and still profits from the constant exploitation of Blacks

"...which part do you think you're livin' in?..."
the protagonist asks what role do you play in racial injustice; perpetrator, passivist, or victim

"...history quickly crashing through your veins..."
Blacks and Whites alike are the products of their ancestral legacy which is instilled in both races alike

  • @Jsmorel86 I'm bblack more likely eight out of Africa and ur comment seemed very offensive not the whole way through butno one needed ur opinion about not wanting to go to Africa

  • Ur awesomely smart to understand this song has a lot of meaning one of the most meaningful songs

  • what what is this version?

  • @jsmorel86 I apologize for any offense that you've recieved on my part but it wasn't intended. Some blacks get offended if they are called "black". Moreso than if you use the term "African-American".

  • @anniemalistic98 im black and i hate the term african american. im black. ive never been to africa nor do i ever care to go there. so im not "african american" im black. more importantly im just american. born in washington state.

  • @xXNeosauceXx Hey, at least you're not one of those stubborn ten year olds who comment on my corrections saying, "FUCK YOU IDC!" Go you, for manning up and owning up to your mistakes. :D

  • @anniemalistic98 I am now succesful in making myself looking like a dick. I shall remove it :L

  • @xXNeosauceXx Sorry for jumping in this argument, I would just like to point out SEVERAL grammatical errors in your comment, which is a point of hypocrisy. "Actually, no it doesn't, dumbass." Also, "Did you know that African-Americans are the people most likely to use the word 'nigger'?" "Oh, and since I'm a *grammar Nazi- You* Categorize** etc."

  • @ghostnappadie Rock on from a white guy, i get a lot of shit about how all white people are racist "devils" But yet do they know that the southern side of my family never owned a slave? Bet they didn't know that?

  • i get a bunch of racism cause im arabic and the racist people r going to hell because racism is wrong and they know it'
