By "liking" the video, you are helping us win the "People's Choice Award".

Music is "Winter Princess" by "zero-project", you can download their album here:
http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/60457

"Monday's Child" is a submission to Reed.co.uk's film competition:
http://reed.co.uk/film

The competition's focus had to be on "Mondays", so naturally we wanted to put a Hoganian dark spin on the concept of "Mondays".

For those who couldn't understand, the film follows the life of one character who has spent his life between four small walls. Throughout his life, he builds a strong reliance on the room and chooses to favour security over freedom as the film closes.

He is given three items each week - the last week's items are:
- A key to open the door
- A knife to cut his cord
- An apple as an offering of a natural life (he's never eaten before, he's fed through the drip)

We wanted to raise questions regarding the concept of time (thus Mondays) and life as a whole.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to leave them in the comments section.

  • Hi, nice job! I like your variety of shots and styles in this :)

I've entered the same competition (please have a look and let me know what you think) and I think you've misunderstood how the People's Choice award works. I'm fairly sure reed.co.uk will choose a shortlist of videos that will then go on their website and then be voted by reed.co.uk users... I don't think YouTube 'likes' are the way of voting... I could be wrong but that's how I understand it.

  • @Paulcook04 Yes, I believe you're right about the voting system. We weren't sure, and entered another competition that worked on this basis, so we just wanted to be sure. I like your video, a good twist and really well shot. Good luck to you sir!

  • Dayum, that was pretty damn good, so shots were a bit rough (2:16 for exampple), unless you wanted that shot to show the gap underneath the door in a blur?

  • @snotbrain That was an intentional effect, it was to show that the hole he'd made in the door was gone. We were wondering whether that was clear or not...

  • Omg that was really good! A little dissapointed not to see an appearance from Jackson although i suppose He is a very similar age to the older brother(really sorry i forgot his name) Oh and i must ask, who was the Man at the end? was that your Dad? either way, amazing short film, it has to win!

  • @TheStealthClown It was our daddio :)
