above all she imbues Donizetti with drama making him sound such an important composer and not a ridiculous coloratura writer

DiDonato is equally serious in her approach Listen to the most dramatic scene (Nightmares and Visions... Doppo delle... from both Baker and Didonato they are both breathtaking)

best ever is by Baker and Plowright - both in terms of acting (Plowright could have played Elisabeth in the Theatre) and in terms of projecting the venomous phrasings without becoming the least ridiculous (when opera singers spit out phrases most of the times they lose drama instead of gaining sentiment)

go listen to primohomme's uploaded parts... she has mastered a Divine pianissimo - not that I am crazy about that... but the overall Stuarda is an exceptional technical effort that approaches perfection in technical terms besides some roaring in lower notes... It is a wonder of technique her stuarda truly very very hard work and there were some moments of goosebumps

I do not like the bleating sound of DiDonato's voice.. The vibrato makes her voice fluttery in a key section when you do not want that sound..

-Love the spit, love the phrasing but her non-operatic sound in the words Figlia impura di Bolena (she cancels operatic projection there) is not good... it needs more operatic placement She is not the kind of singer who sounds well without operatic placement at least in hard phrases

-She pulls her hand up at bastardo then Elisabeth does the same when she calls up the guards... dont they feel strange they do same things?:))) Was there a stage director in all this? :)))

Can't wait till she brings it to the Met and they beam a HD version to theaters- Joyce is very intense as the part calls for- I just wish she had hauled off and slapped that woman into next week. I wonder how many others have sung both Queens as she has in Stuarda. She was fierce as Elisabetta but blows me away as Maria- Grazie assai- Ernesto Vasselli
