From July 15-19, 2010, John, Coleman, Jim and Rafiq ventured into the Weminuche Wilderness in the San Juan National Forest near Durango, CO. The adventure starts with a three hour trip aboard the Durango-Silverton narrow gauge railroad - chugging high into the back country. The group starts off from the train's brief stop at the Elk Park trail and five days later they exit on the far side of the wilderness at Lake Valecito. It's a trip full of many tough ascents, incredible scenery, wildflowers, waterfalls and lake. Spectacular!
Wow that was nice. Some long days but some nice country. I try to go every year around Pagosa but we dont hike. I will someday. Thanks for the adventure.
