This is the parade in Moscow's Red Square, devoted to the 62nd anniversary of the Great Victory over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War (what the Eastern Front of World War II is called in the former Soviet Union), 9 May 2007. In the beginning, the flag of the Russian Federation and The Banner of Victory are carried into Red Square. Afterwards, newly appointed Minister of Defense, Anatoly Serdyukov, along with Moscow Military District Commander, General of The Army, Vladimir Bakin, begin their inspection tour of the troops. President of Russia, Vladimir Putin (this would be his last year in office), delivers the commemoration speech, Russian soldiers sing the national anthem, and then begin their solemn march past Red Square. A impressive drill show concludes this year's parade, it would also be the final year where a drill show would be conducted. Music by the Moscow Military District Orchestra, directed by Major General Valery Khaliov.

Excellent work in general! Who is this delightful Chief Conductor of the Mixed Bands?

  • @KniazBolkonsky His name is Valery Khaliov (Валерий Халилов), Lieutenant General, Chief Conductor of the Combined Military Orchestra in Moscow since 2002.

  • Can I find this recording without the voice overs anywhere?

  • @rugbyanden Nope.

  • everything seems so different..

  • i like parades like this!

  • @lanivil0209 Correct. However, they have not been paraded on red square since November 7, 1990. I should have made that more clear. Thank you.

  • @SuperUshistory in the 1995 Parade at Plokonaya hill there was a display of tanks and equipment.

  • @SuperUshistory But still, I'd really like to see the drills. Placing one after the vehicles parade would be awesome. Either that or youtube needs an injection of official Kremlin Zorya footage.
