Episode Eighteen

Demi's POV

"Demetria...where have you been," my father asked me as David interfered.

"Showing Joseph around your house no doubt," he said as I glared at him and then turned back to my father as he looked at me strangely.

"I was going to the rest room and found Joseph wondering the halls lost so I was merely showing him the way back to the gardens," I answered as my father nodded his head.

"That was very thoughtful of you," my father said as I nodded.

"If you boys will excuse me...Prince Ian is waiting for a dance," I said before walking off and over to Ian. I spent most of the party with him getting to know him a bit better, he made me smile and laugh which was a good thing. The party was nearing an end though and Joe had completed his set and was now cleaning everything up as I walked over to him, "hows the vocal cords?"

"There fine," he said as I giggled and nodded my head.

"That's good to hear then," I said as he smiled and nodded his head.

"I'll move my car and then meet you inside alright," he said quietly making sure I was the only one that heard him.

"All right...and I think I know the routine by now," I admitted as he nodded his head and shut the case to his guitar as he locked it up. I looked around before noticing my parents and George walking towards us with a few policemen...they looked sad and angry to be honest as they made their way over to me. "Mom, dad what's going on," I asked as a few of the guests that were still here looked over at us.

"Sweetheart...move," my mother said as I shook my head. Joe hopped off the stage and stood beside me as I looked at him confused and he did the same making me worried that maybe they had caught onto what Joe and I had been doing.

"Joseph...can you empty your pockets please," George asked as Joe nodded his head and emptied his pant pockets.

"Of course sir but all I have is a few guitar picks and a ten dollar bill," he said placing them on the table.

"Joseph...you were identified by one of out guests tonight...you were walking out of my office with a very expensive piece of jewelry."

"What," Joe said as I looked at him. "I don't...I didn't...I would never take anything from you especially that necklace," Joe said as my parent's looked at him.

"And how did you know it was a necklace," my mother asked as I sighed and went to speak but the police were already searching Joe. I gasped as one of them pulled my necklace out of his coat pocket. Even Joe looked at them weirdly as the second cop started hand cuffing him.

"I swear I didn't do it...I didn't even take it I swear," he said as I looked at him with tear filled eyes. "Demi I swear I didn't take your necklace...you know I would never do that."

"Then how did it get in your pocket Joe...just tell me how it got there and I promise I'll believe you...whatever you say," I said as he shook his head.

"I don't know how it got there but I swear I didn't take it...I wouldn't do this and you know I wouldn't," he said as I looked at him with sad eyes.

"Take him away," my father said as the officers took Joe and walked off with him as I wiped my tears away before looking at my parent's again. "I can't believe this...he was a great man...he's helped us a lot and saved you and this is what he does to us...he steals from our family," my father said angrily.

"Are you okay sweetheart," my mother asked me as I nodded my head.

"Yes I'm fine mother...I just...well I thought Joseph was different from everyone else and it turns out he's exactly the same," I said as Ian walked over to us.

"Are you alright princess," Ian asked me as I nodded my head but even he could tell that it was a lie?

"Prince Ian...can you bring Demi inside and get her some water," Ian nodded and took my hand gently in his as he helped me inside and to the kitchen where he poured me a glass of water.

"I don't understand...I thought I could trust him...and...and I was with him the whole time we were in my fathers office...I don't understand and I can't figure out how he could do this," I admitted before taking a sip of my water.

"Well princess the only way you'll get your answers is if you ask him."

"He just said he didn't do it and he never would," I said as Ian looked at me.

"Then maybe he didn't," he said as I took another sip of my water upset on how tonight's events had turned out.
