No it wasn't. The AFL had excellent players from the very beginning to the very end and a few of them are in the Hall of Fame right now, with a few still belonging who haven't made it yet.
Lombardi didn't coach at all in 1968. He took a season off. He came back to coach the Redskins in 1969 and that was his ONLY season with the Redskins. Look it up at Pro-football-referencedotcom
@DiceCarlinKinison Hey assface! The redskins finished 5-9 in 1968. In their first and only year under Lombardi, 1969, they finished 7-5-2. Do your homework, beat off.
@DiceCarlinKinison You're a real dope aren't you? The AFL was a horseshit league until 1965. The name Super Bowl was a publicity gimmick. The Packers have won the most championships. Deal with it.
@danno23 we are Talking SUPER BOWLS!!! Get it FIXED! the championships the Packers won before Super Bowls started were never against AFL teams...and the AFL quickly proved they would have whipped ass in those early years..hence the Jets. Admit it clown, No AFL inclusion, It's not a real championship, that's why when they included the AFL, that called it "SUPER BOWL". get it fixed
@DiceCarlinKinison The history of the National Footbal League did not start in the Super Bowl era. The Packers have won thirteen league championships; the Steelrs have won six....get it fixed.
everyone gurgles Lombardi's jizz and they don't even know why. He left the Packers to coach the Redskins and didn't do shit with them. Plus, Chuck Noll doubled his super bowls getting 2 repeats in six years. And Noll is still the only Head Coach to win FOUR Super Bowls. Need to remember he also drafted hall of famers in '69, '70, '72, and then four future hall of famers in the 1974 draft. LOL people don't do their homework and they look stupid
Tom Landry was not the greatest coach of all-time. What Landry was, however, was probably the greatest strategist of all-time. With the giants, he invented the 4-3 defense, which is still used by most teams today. But when he became head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, he began to invent many moveable offensive schemes. The reason for doing so was to undo the very defensive schemes that he had pioneered. But I would even rank Landry behind both Don Shula and Chuck Noll.
