...TALK TO YOUR KIDS ABOUT MONEY! This is SO important guys! We owe it to them as their parents. If they don't hear it from us, who are they going to hear it from? It actually is an awesome responsibility and one I am so proud to be a part of! Dave Ramsey has an FPU Jr. line that is AWESOME! Check out www.daveramsey.com to see more!

When our girls were young, we paid them in nickels or quarters. Then, when they didn't do their assigned "jobs" they had to pay us a nickel or quarter or two for us to do them... Then, when they got to spend their money it was split up between, savings, charity (they had to research and learn about the ones in our area) and spending money. This also works great when you travel because everytime they acted up or said, "are we there yet"... they had to pay a "fine" from their roll of coins!

We made thermometers to put on the fridge that measure our progress to get our $1000 BEF, the debt snowball, and another for the FFEF. At least once a month we discuss where we are at and they get to color in the thermometer our progress. We took them to get a treat when we got our BEF done, and have plans to do a dinner out when our first debt is paid. They also get commission for their weekly chores and split that--10% tithing, 50% spending, and 50% savings.

Since I am the one who is usually out with the kiddos shopping ect. I told then that we are going to live like no one else so later we can LIVE like no one else. They asked Why/ I told them we are joining Dave Ramsey and you on this journey. Explaining what it is about. We have been here before but didn't have the kids in on it. They will be in on it this time BIG TIME! So excited!

I talk to my boys about money often. Have been wanting to set up responsibilty charts and pay commissions- don't know why we've been putting if off, I think it's because we need to work it into our budget. This will be one of our goals for the new year!

Be careful with your repairs.May cost you more in your health.
My kids are grown. But we have been talking about financial freedom.

Without the banks, I have a similar program with my 6 year old. Anytime she receives a gift she must put allotted amounts into each category. We also have chores for her that she must do every day during the week or else she doesn't get her allowance (although I like the word "commission" much more). I think I'm going to enact the "Bonus" section that you showed. It's great extra incentive!

I remember having money talks with my mom however it also depends on your interests.
My younger sister never wanted to and thirty years later she is still a free spirit living by the seat of her pants (or however the saying goes).
