In early October of '08, I decided to pack a bag and head to Thailand for two weeks. The result was an incredible culture immersed in Buddhism; the result was that of incredible hospitality and respect among its people. It is true what they say about Thailand being the "Land Of Smiles".
Seen here is a tuk tuk (a three-wheeled taxi) ride throughout the streets of Bangkok. My friend good friend Heidi came from the Philippines and met up with me for a week while we were seeing another friend who resided in the area. A typical fare goes for about 20 baht (about 80 cents U.S.) and can take you anywhere in Bangkok.
*TIPS TO THOSE TRAVELING THAILAND AND RIDING TUK TUKS* Beware of drivers saying that they'll take you on a "tour" for shopping. They get paid around 200 baht for each store they take you to and it will end up being a waste of your time. If a particular place you want to go (a temple or certain location) and they tell you it's closed, have them drive you there anyway; they're mostly trying to haggle with you to sway your decision to shopping.
Other than that, I found tuk tuks to be my favorite (and cheapest) forms of transportation (if you don't mind a little smog).
