the gadgets represent both icons of storytelling like the top from inception and also the power Olivier is waving in front of Milo to show his power, or rather, superiority. As the point of the game was "humiliation" which is an exploitation of each other trying to gain power by destroying the others'.

The original with Michael Caine as Milo Tyndal and Sir Lawrence Olivier was better.

a bunch of producers in the credits---when this could be a cheap movie made at somebody's house..
some really weird camera angles, and ugly lookin sets in this part.

I just read the play and had to see if there was a movie...

Who needs a "modern" version, having a master piece already? I think Kenneth Branagh did this awful remake just to get the first movie known and really appreciated... :P What a master piece of acting by Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine, what a awsome script by Shaffer and what a wonderful director mister Joseph L. Mankiewicz behind the camera. In some centuries ahead, it will more and more be referred to as the true classic it is. This remake will deserves being forgotten.

@machtrebel Thanks

I Loved this movie. There are no other people/crowds/traffic-- even the house interior is minimalist. All attention goes on the ACTORS and the roles they are playing. And... they are Great actors. Always loved the 72 version, but compared to this, it was somewhat dependent on the gadgets Olivier had in the house.

@Giovannisenzaterra What he says is "No, they're a funny lot, the Italians. Culture isn't really their thing."
