Medvedev confessed that Russia began August war

Russian president Dmitry Medvedev has confessed that Russia had been preparing for possible war in the Caucasus before August. Medvedev retold the Russian version of the Georgia-Russia war. His interview was broadcast on three Russian channels yesterday.

Medvedev said three times in his interview that the war was begun by Russia. He said it was his personal decision on launching the fighting in South Ossetia.

Medvedev said the low number of dead soldiers in this war was the result of well-planned military operation in Georgia.

He said Russia began fighting in South Ossetia because Georgians opened fire to Russian citizens.

Russian president did not even try to hide his personal hatred towards the president of Georgia. He said the motives of his decision to wage war was also the hatred towards Mikheil Saakashvili.

So when Russia defends its citizens and servicemen abroad under attack its terrible, but when USAs lap dog causes mass casualties among civilians and uses rocket systems against sleeping town - thats perfectly fine. What law did Russia breach that day? None. Georgia broke LOTS. If you georgians wanted to overrun Tskhinval all you had to do was move your forces in, quickly take over government points and it would have been bloodless. There would have been no resistance. your comment speaks that you have a wrong information and it is difficult to explain something to people like you. but i must tell you something: no "sleeping town" were bombed, population of Tskhinvali was evacuated by "your" Russians few days before the war have been started. and during the night of 8th august there were killed a big amount of armed forces (more then 80% of killed people).

what about the law, if not Russia but who occupied 20% of Georgia's territory?

every independance country must have effective army, this is foundation of any countries pevelopment.

by the way don't forget that s.ossetia and abxazia are Georgia's teritorry and everybody knew (even you) that in any case we won't try to occupie any other countries teritorry (of course included russia) and even we were getting ready for any operation against seperatists russia wouldn't be disturbed for it, but the onliest country who was getting ready for war was russia.

It is an impossible position to be defender of loved ones when your home is invaded burglars. burglars have advantage of emotional detachment from the people involved & they act for the material gain. Why did Georgian forces attack the barracks of Russian peace-keepers? Surely not just for the fun of it. Why drive armor into a town where there is no army? Why are there so many videos of Georgian soldiers shooting at houses from tanks when clearly there is no one shooting at them? Whatever is on TV in Georgia today its all government controlled. I watched Aussie TV just so you know.
