This video was shown on Channel 7 immediately after the 1994 Grand Final and the first part was apparantly shown to the players before the game. The video is unedited and was put to Mariah Carey - Hero.

It had to be edited in someway because they would not have shown them celebrating their win 3 hours after they had shown it.

I said edited as in I didn't put the music over the top or edit it in any way.... it is straight off the 14 year old videotape I've got... and they mentioned in there it was the video shown to the players. Obviously they edited the end to show the celebrations from the game.

Things were very different back then... even when the Eagles finished on top of other sides we were ripped off by having our home games moved to the MCG because of the agreement... at least 2 seasons where we could have won it again but had home finals taken off us.

Thankfully they've changed the ridiculous rules now... but only because it was going to affect the AFL lovechild Sydney and Brisbane.

@AnvilOfKrom Yes fair enough , but I tell you what on his day Matera was freak good. His running with the ball and kicking length was something new to the game. Ablett was brilliant in goals and Carey was brillant at setting up goals and dominating the Centre Half Forward position, problem with Carey was he was an arrogant prick and the umpire knew it. Both Ablett and Carey were certainly brilliant in their standard set position, Matera forward , back where ever and 5 goals off a wing amazing

Peter Matera was the greatest player never the win a Brownlow medal, the year he was runner up or 3rd or what ever it was , he should have shit it in. In amongst to team that was virtually a State team he was a fucking superstar. To this day there has never been any one like it. The only other that has come close incredibly is Chris Judd who rose to stardom at WCE GF year 2006

Matera however was off the planet, 5 goals off a wing in the 1st GF win to a team outside Victoria was incredible.
