How to do Serviette Decoupage on glass plates

@choco2300 - I had music on here when I first put this on but there was some problem with it (copyright etc) so I had to remove it - its very hard to find music that you ar allowed to use here! Oh well - you will just have to put your mp3 on and watch LOL!

I do decoupage on wooden boxes since i was little but i never did it on plates so... how do you wash the plate or platter after you use it in order for the napkin to stay there and not get off?? Thanks :)

@frantzzzze with the ones I make I only use them as a display plate or a sweet dish and recommend to just wipe them over with a damp cloth. I have heard of special decoupage glue that is set in the oven and then can be washed like normal plates. If you can find something like that you could use them for more messy types of food but I only use mine for display so I dont worry about the type of glue I use. Hope this helps - Viv

@frantzzzze oh another thing - seeing you only do the serviette on the back the front where you put any food is just glass so if you can just wipe it over you dont have to worry. Its only if you want to soak it in a sink of water that you would need the special glues/varnish. Viv

Hey Like how come you aren't using glue and varnish for decoupage by C.Creul or To-Do or Marabu because this white glue isn't meant to be for napkin technique aka decoupage?

@Gothic277 - if you check out what the decoupage glues are they are very similar if not the same as white glue but a lot more expensive. Yes, you can use them but I have found the white glue to be as good and lasts for years and doesnt go sticky even when the air is humid. I have items I decoupaged years ago using white glue and they are still fine to this day. PS Im in Australia and I have never heard of the brands you mention. Mod Podge is the only decoupage stuff we can get here.

To the person who asked about the white glue my mother owned a craft store my whole life and I will tell you to decoupage with inexpensive elmers glue works just as well as paying much more for decoupage glue.. if you want to use Elmers glue or school glue as my mother called it you want to water it down just a little to make it more pliable just a little water added to it though.you can decorate for a lot less money and it works just as well on glass tile wood anything you want to decorate
