Up a VERY steep hill climb in Jawbone Canyon, California ( 3.5 miles up from HWY 14). This a 260 foot hill climb that I would not want to have to back down. I started up and it was climbing so good I knew I would make it. Driving down was not all that bad just don't get sideways or you will go over and over. This video was taken from the bottom of the canyon by Mark who you can see riding his 2009 KTM 530 XCW up this side of the hill in some of my other videos (#24, 25, & 26). This is the Stock Can Am Commander 1000 XT without any air out of the tires. 4 wheel Low and drove right up. : ) . I went up about 4 times and some other hills out there I didn't get on video but this thing has no boundaries.
If you would like to see this trail in Google Earth paste the Lat and Long into the search.

  • I didnt plan on going all the way up the first time but it was climbing so good I was sure it would make it. The dirt had good grip that day. I used Low gear both up and down the hill, on great thing about the stock Commander clutch is it will crawl down a steep hill like this as slow as about 2 MPH or faster if you give it a little gas but very controllable at any speed. Using the breaks will get you sliding on a hill like this. But about power, I had the needed power but I could see not mak

  • did you go up and down in low, did you use clutch or brakes down, also did you ever feel you did not have enough power to make it up anytime??? in other words was it easy climb, with plenty power left over
