WOLFS YouTube LIST OF SONGS
To avoid some misunderstandings: I am not trying to compete with the great jazz-vocalists, whom I know and admire. What sense would be in that with my German accent and completely untrained voice? I rather try to do something that has not been done often before: I try to perform (mostly) jazz-standards in the style of cabaret songs, that is focusing on the meaning of the text. (One innocent boy wrote to me: You are actually sometimes not singing, but rather speaking. ;-) I know a thing or two about cabaret songs, since I published the first description in book-form of that genre. (I would rather not mention, what year ;-) Why jazz standards? Because they offer me the freedom to improvise (and occasionally scat), when I feel like it. And I simply LOVE them. (Dont worry, I KNOW the original melodies! ;-)
Most of these postings were originally recorded by my friends in karaoke-bars here in Japan. (Many with handies! That explains the uneven sound-quality. And they all are improvised, which explains the uneven musical quality. But I flatter myself in thinking that I am rather good in anticipating what is coming in the accompaniment.)
When I ran out of good songs in those bars, I sang some more - with famous musicians (wolf1750) - into my tiny pin-hole mike in the frame of my iMac. Of those promptly about 100 were thrown out by the owners of the copyrights. This doesnt make any sense to me, since these are useless commercially because of my singing. Those, that complain about me ruining a song, should simply look for the original version. Thank heavens, I never needed to earn money with my beloved music!
Cheers! Wolf
