After much discussion from many RC modellers, the reason for this crash seems to be the following:
After about 15-20% flaps were dialled in prior to take off, the rotate speed was lower than without flaps, as the aircraft gained speed the flaps became a large drag force upwards but the landing gear was a drag force downwards, keeping the aircraft in almost equilibrium. as the landing gear was raised the effects of the flaps became much larger and gave a large lift factor causing the aircraft to climb steeply, as the air over the wing slowed in the stall the pilot corrected the tip stall by inputting the correct aileron input, unfortunately this lead to the ailerons adding to the flaps drag factor and causing an unrecoverable tip stall, lesson learned? Mix flaps with gear, i.e when gear is UP = NO FLAPS or a much reduced take off amount.

  • Hey, how bout filming the plane next time??

  • @lflgilf lmao, I was running for cover!

  • dam!

  • @dandrew81 :( agree, but lesson learned on the gear up /flaps mix, expensive lesson mind you, model flight, if your in to it, is like early aviation, full of crashes and really good fun

  • Surely you shouldnt be using aileron to recover the stall, it should be rudder as aileron will only make the stall worse?

  • Very tail heavy

the best pilot could not of saved it

always test fly somewhat nose heavy

    especially warbirds

    better luck next time

  • The standard.......Radio Glitch.....my ass, You ran out of airspeed and experience at the same time. Poor airplane.

  • yepp thats rigth, the comment i red yeasterday, everytime there is an interesting crash the cameraman films the sky or the ground.

  • whoop whoop pull up

  • I would say he took off at too slow speed and climbed too steep and probably a tail heavy condition too. The plane did not seem to want to stay level and gain speed even after he put the nose down. The tail dropped once or twice more, then it stalled.

  • Flaps for landing. It was way tail heavy too. Waste.

  • Flaps are very fun to use but remember, if the plane is going too slow, the ailerons do not work. To fly these big heavy warbirds requires patience by letting the plane fly and not over flying the plane. Also, big warbirds with flaps need to be flown with rudder too. Good luck next time.

  • He's flew first time by RC plane?

  • TAIL HEAVY AND LACK OF EXPERIENCE!!!!
