Camping at Florida's Beautiful Hillsborough River State Park

In early June we took our pop-up to Hillsborough River State which is about an hour from where we live. This is the second trip we've taken in our new (to us) pop-up camper. It was hot, but we stayed very comfortable in the air conditioned camper.

The pop up did not have an awning but it does have accessory tracks on the roof and I used them to rig up an awning with some carriage bolts, tarp, poles, rope and stakes. It worked out nicely.

This park has a very large and nice pool, a camp store with cafe and many hiking trails. There is good canoeing and fishing in the Hillsborough river but watch out for the gators.

I don't remember. It was near the river and right beside the little road that goes to the canoe / kayak launch. The hook ups were on the wrong side and we had to swing the camper around by hand to set it up right. This was our 3rd or 4th trip to this park and this campsite was our least favorite. We still had a great time though.

You should go to manatee or blue springs. Great swimming,tubing with trails and deer.
