Waterford Courtyards in Jacaranda 2006 "Built Better Than Before"

This video was made in 2006 and shown at the meeting near the first anniversary of the devastation caused to our community by Hurricane Wilma. I served as President of the Board of Directors during the reconstruction and my term ended in March 2008.

The Board consisted of a great group of people and between them, the Committee members especially Ruben Jimenez on the Landscape Committee and the original members of the Concerned Citizens Group (names not mentioned for privacy purposes) that helped recall the previous Board that left us in this mess.

It was quite an experience and could not have happened without them.

I always wished I created another video for the second anniversary since after this video we landscaped the front entrances and community, planted over 500 trees to replace the ones lost, re-paved the roads and many others of the over 40 projects that it took to "Build it Better than Before" our motto.

My strength came from a prayer written by Mother Theresa and one I still keep close to my heart. It was only the power of God that helped us come up with the $7 million it took to rebuild especially since the first amount the insurance offered us was $900K!

Here is the prayer and may it find a special place in your life also:

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway. If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway. What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway. Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway. In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.
