@calumnicol By the way no one at Alpha had ever heard the expression stoop and few at Alpha even know what a stump is . Here in WVA it's an old time coal miner's expression. And I'm only 13 years old

theres no way in an Australian mine they would have been allowed to stand opposite the cutter head. even filming this happen you would need an Intrinsically Safe video camera with written permits and approvals from the mine engineer, electrical engineer and mine manager.
