Joshua J. Thomas playing the beautiful Julia Florida Barcarola (Boat Song) by one of the Greatest Guitar virtuosos and players of all time from Paraguay - Agustin Pio Barrios or Agustin Barrios Mangoré. From the previous Trinity Guildhall Grade 7 syllabus. Played on an 2007 Otto Vowinkel Spruce top guitar, made in Amsterdam. First time recording, maybe another even better version to come, who knows, in the meantime, enjoy. I would love to hear your thoughts, about the performance, and how you think it could be improved. Thanks, and enjoy! Check out: http://joshthomasguitar.wordpress.com/

  • nice one Josh, some nice phrasing there, I did have my recording of this up on youtube but I took it down last week,

anyway I think you've got some really good stuff going on there but try some other inversions for those first chords, I prefer playing it higher up the fret board as it gives a more warm tone.

    Keep up the good work!

  • cheers tom.

Yeah, for my exam i played it in 4th position the first time, and 8th/9th position the second time, i do agree, its a warmer tone. Thanks for the feedback, See you tommorrow.

  • Good stuff, very clean, but too stiff. This isn't Bach (though he can rock, too). This is a barcarola, a song sung/played with the waves as the gondolier steers the boat through Venice. It should ebb and flow with different tempos, tone colors, and softness. Definitely one of my favorite songs to play at night. In fact, I'm gonna break out my sheet music. Thanks!

  • nice

  • not my style of guitar but DEFFINATELY some talented work right there
