Please read all of the info here. And Im sorry, I've misspelled after, I'am totally aware of that. Hehe.

This is a video of my Scoliosis-surgery. I got it done at Rikshospitalet in Norway in 2005. I love to get comments from you guys, and since many of you ask questions about the surgery and the time after, I've decided to make an FAQ.

Q: Did you get a lot of information from the doctors before you had the surgery?
A: I got all the information that I wanted, but I didn't feel like it was enough. The doctors couldn't answer in a way that I wanted, because they have never been through a surgery themself. Thats why I made this video so you guys could get a better look at how a surgery goes through.

Q: Were you in a lot of pain after the surgery?
A: Of course it hurts a bit, but youre not supposed to be in pain. You get all the pain releaf that you want! You feel more... weird, because youre not used to your new back. And your body is very tired after a huge surgery, but don't worry, you get back on your feet sooner than you think!

Q: Can you do sports and activities, or is your back very stiff?
A: I can do all sports and activities exept stuff like Yoga where you have to be really flexible. It's important to think about your back after this surgery and you have to be careful. I have decided to not do contact-sports like football or rugby, because I dont have control over all the players and I'm scared that one maybe run into me and tackle me very hard. After the surgery I've done some horsebackriding and I've been doing car-racing. It all works very well and I don't feel any pain at all. But again, you have to be smart and think about your back before you throw yourself into sports. I can also bend like I normaly did before, It's a bit harder to bend to the side, but its nothing that gets in my way, you get pretty used to it.

Q: Does you scar show a lot?
A: No, my scar is very nice. They didnt sew me toghether with stiches, they used these metal thingys (I don't know the word in english) and they make a really nice scar. I have been careful when I've been out in the sun, and I have put a tape over my scar so that the scar didn't turn all white while the skin got tanned. It really works! I am also very proud of my scar because it represents a big part of me and my life, I am not ashamed of it.

Q: What is your best tips before I go into surgery?
A: Don't be scared, the surgeons know what theyre doing. Do not think about the time after the surgery that much, just jump into it. I expected a LOT of pain, and that I maybe wouldnt make it through, then when the surgery was over I got happily surprised over the fact that it wasn't so bad as I expected. And for GODS SAKE, do not search up videos on youtube where you can see the whole surgery! It grosses you out and you may get another image on having a surgery. Oh and also, try to be good and work out after the surgery, it helps you a lot to build up the muscles in your back. But don't work out so hard, start slow.

Q: Do you regret having the surgery?
A: No, I am so happy I had the surgery, the first weeks was the hardest but it was SO worth it. I had a lot of pain in my muscles BEFORE the surgery, and I am so happy to be out of pain and that I can live a normal life.

Thanks for watching, please leave a comment if you want. I hoped the video helped you.

  • You were so strong honey, you gave me the courage to face my own scoliosis surgery. God bless you sweetheart. You helped me be brave.

  • @greenbaby80 Thank you for your kind words I appreciate it. I hope everything went well with you and the surgery and I wish you all the best! :)

  • I had it done and the nurses half to help you wipe when you go to the bathroom and the pain hurts with walking but grows as you walk more

  • @awesomeyouare1 I'm sorry to hear that, but that never happened to me. I didnt eat much food in the beginning so i didnt have to go to the bathroom to poop for after some days, hehe. At that time i felt better than in the beginning so i could wipe myself. Maybe thats not the case for everyone tho. And also i kept feeling better and better as the days went by, and it helped by walking because when i exercised my blood flood better through my body and i could feel that it healed my body :)
