I don't see how anyone can defend him. Being a director does not make you god. Your actor isn't supposed to just shut up and listen to your orders like a docile little pawn. Her complaints were legitimate and she should be allowed to voice them. And quite frankly, Lily Tomlin is nearly 20 years older than this guy and has been in the business waaaay longer. To call her a c*nt just because boohoo he got called out in front of his crew? What an egotistical asswipe.

she was trying to make the most of a bad situation, he decided to throw a tantrum and storm around and throw things including but not limited to what appears to be a lampshade and misogynistic slurs.

If I were shouted at like that by my director, I would simply stand up and walk off set. This guy acted like a complete fucking ass clown in front of Her, and He should be ashamed of himself. Totally unprofessional carry on. I know people come under pressure on set sometimes, but this guy was out of order.

Ms. Tomlin has always been a consummate professional. I think she handled her director's unprofessional and abusive behavior rather well. I guess we all have bad days but a director sets the tone for the entire set and is held to a higher standard.

I love how, no matter the size of the budget or the fame of the actors, moviemaking often comes down to the same emotions: exhilaration, frustration, tension. I've known a few indie directors who would do this, and I've felt the same way as Lily Tomlin more than once.
