Frescatti (1834): a picturesque villa originally built for the Colonial Secretary J. Burnett. It is a single-storey asymmetrical building with an eclectic mix of architectural details. The earliest sections of the building are of wet stock brick walls with ashlar coursed lime putty finish with a coffered ceiling or hardwood weatherboards with a lathe and plaster interior with brick nogging. Later additions are of Pine weatherboards. The roof is corrugated iron. Twin Hawthorn-lined curved drives behind 'Frescatti' are a special remnant landscape feature of the site, the right hand side once leading to a carriage house.

Over the years that has been an apparent 5 deaths inside this cottage.

  • This video is one of the creepiest things I've ever seen... you would have to be one of the bravest people in the world to do this. I could never go inside a place like this, let alone by myself.

  • @Technikilor

LOL thanks. The urge to explore & Investigate is what drives me to go into these creepy places, It would probably be harder for me to stop myself going in than to walk away LOL

  • Nice vid mate Id love to go in there, but i wouldn't do it on my own

  • @piddydog

Cheers mate, Its a very creep in there

  • Im sorry, i am no skeptic or let along hater. But i feel it is a pity that you dont have much more equipment to get a better look with your camera, and with the cough and noises its sad that were werent any other cameras to prove that there wasnt somebody else to make those noises, I used to work there when it first closed down and had trouble getting the ex patients to leave, many still live there so be careful and some noises could easily be them. But over all a great video.

  • @trailertrashbarbie5

Also when did you work there? How long did you work there for? I have never seen any ex-patients in any of the wards. I would like to hear some of your stroies please go to my website and contact me. Thanks

Hey, Firstly thanks for the comment. To clarify the purpose of this video was just a walkthough because this building had been boarded up for many years and some people have never seen inside. This walkthrough was filmed duing the day and it was never intended to be an investigation video. I can't prove that there was no one else there but I'm 95% sure I was alone. If this was an investigation we would have used various peices of equipment and made sure that we were alone.

  • Wow I can see it too, if you pause around 1:34 - 1:36 on the hallway floor you will see what looks like the top half of man with a beard holding a long stick or pole. his face is at the top left hand corner.

  • Yes it is really sad, and I agree it needs to be preserved. At present we have a working party that is trying to come up with ideas for saving the site, but funding is the biggest barrier. There is a Community Forum in New Norfolk on the 19/10/09 everyone is welcome

  • It's really sad to see heritage like this being allowed to be vandalised and ripped down. The Royal Derwent Hospital needs to be conserved, it is an important part of the history of the past treatment of people with disabilities and mental illness. I am working with people who spent a large part of their life here.
