To celebrate International Womens Day 2009 , best-selling author Marian Keyes and hot new musical talent V V Brown joined forces to release a book and single to raise awareness and funds for Womens Aid. The book and single with the same title was called This Charming Man.
So you're saying that men that commit DV against women are MONSTERS, but women that commit DV against men are just wrong. That say's it all about you oclandestin. You seem to have two different measurements depending on who commits the aggression. Typical of feminists, I must say. Please re-assess your priorities...

jormacasil - Not all men are monsters, and they're not saying that; but the fact remains that the men who commit domestic violence against women ARE monsters. Women who commit violence against men are also wrong, but that's not what this video is about.

You obviously didn't see any of their debates where the men are seen as monsters and women as pure saints. why don't they go against violence without putting us down like that. Agree 100% with harrietharmanisevil's comments. Seen the harm done to men victims of DV, and what their statistics can do.

They do pretend this - Women's Aid England goes out of its way to quote an obscure survey from Scotland (i.e a different country) with a sample size of 25, in order to make the point that supposedly a lot of male vicitms are making it up.
Take a look at their website if you don't believe me. It's pretty easy to find teh content in question.

Oh and as for your statement about doing vital work - well I dont' deny that. Just that they do an equal or greater amount of harm at the same time - to both men and women.
It is already incredibly hard for male victims to come forward without women's aid trying to pretend they dont' exist in significant numebrs and suggesting half of them are making it up.
just becasue someone happens to do something good and useful, doesn't excuse all of the bad things they do does it?

I'm not making unfounded generalisations - every single Men's charity I know (bar the one run by idiotic feminists) wants domestic violence to be recognised as something that happens to everyone, and constantly speaks out in favor of a gender neutral approach to the issue.
It is sexist to both have men's and women's charities and stupid to create false divisions in terms of gender.
Such divisions only exist because feminists have hijacked the issue of domestic violence for political purposes.

I don't believe in blackening the names of individuals or organisations simply by association or without direct evidence against them. And I don't trust you or your comments over an organisation like Women's Aid that does an incredible amount of good and vital work.

I don't think the concept of men's charities for the provision of services for men are sexist. You're making alot of unfounded generalisations that men's charities are mainly 'anti-sexism'. Charities for female victims of abuse don't pretend it doesn't happen to men too. You seem to have very extreme opinions. I'm no Harriet Harman fan, but to say she's "evil" is a little OTT.

Men's DV charities would not be in business at all if we helped all victims of domestic vioelnce rather than just women
Finally as for the point about advertising - well Scottish Women's Aid were FORCED to withdraw and ad a while back by the advertising regulator because it was so incredibly dishonest.
They simply cannot be trusted.

Well in principal it could be argued the Men's charities are sexist for their slight focus on male victims - yet most in fact realise how damaging sexism is and do in fact help female victims too!
The whole ethos of most men's charities is that of anti sexism and being against pretending domestic violence si a gender issue. They want services to be available to everyone regardless of gender so really couldnt' be any less sexist
