The people of the City of Scandicci in Tuscany Italy remember with gratitude those New Zealand Soldiers who sacrificed their lives on these hills contributing to the liberation of our cities and our country from Nazism and help us regain our freedom as written on the stone posted on these hills in August 2006. Date of Battle June 1944.
The church of San Michele was damaged during the war and part of its work of arts are lost. Now restored in our times.
