1995 Nissan Sentra XE startup and idle

This is my newly acquired 1995 Nissan Sentra XE. 1.6L GA16DE with 5 speed transmission. Car has almost 275000 miles but runs nice. Needs a knock sensor and has 2 rust holes in the hood (?!), but not bad for 400 bucks.

@valleyfever Welcome. You might have a bit of trouble locating it though, it was junked and crushed about a year ago and from what I hear, the recycled steel is sent to China.

sounds like my old sentra, drove it to the junkyard w/ 270k.. coulda hit 300. new timing chain tensioner would fix a good deal of the noise.

what happen when the knock sensor goes out? i have one it is on its #2 engine and still running 250+ daily work car

my car sounds similar.. no leak/holes in exhaust why so loud?

i replaced the knock sensor lol have fun!

use a 10inch extension wrench with 12mm socket

and a ujoint

hey,mine sr20de 1999,also have to replace knock sensor.

the timing-chain rattles very hard and loud.

i'm driving a 92 sentra, ran below the empty level for oil for months
