there is nothing better than dynamic music played by talented musicians doing their best

@ 1:03 he enters his solo with a major 3rd! (sorry non musicians) right after we heard the minor and right before lowering it. I know it sounds technical, but it´s done so beautifully, and in a context where it means intelligence, a superior sensitivity, and incredible balanced. A great music lesson in a fraction of a second.

I agree . The solo was a masterpiece. You could tell that Woody didn't care much for the low note, but it went off great.

Much better than the original! Awesome!

I’ve found there are 2 exact same postings of TASTE OF HONEY (“Jazz Casual” 2-15-64) on YouTube:

BTW, If you compare these 2 YouTubes. . .
. . .they ARE THE EXACT SAME BAND & SESSION
(ie, Pgm3/2-15-64, diff. than Pgm2 Summer1963):
After You’ve Gone: youtube MXiBu4gBc98
Taste of Honey: youtube EMDsk2nojd0
For some reason Youtube won’t let me put in the full links.

The reason for all the confusion is that the generous uploader, BigChiefDeSota, replicated an error JazzWest made in listing TASTE-OF-HONEY in PgmII/6-1-63 of the 3-Episode “Jazz Casual” series, when it is actually part of PgmIII/2-15-64. That changes quite a bit, personnelwise!

I’m convinced that the correct lineup for this 3-15-1964 video of Woody’s TASTE OF HONEY is:
Tpts(L-R): Billy Hunt, Danny Nolan, Bill Chase, Gerry Lamy, Paul Fontaine
Bones(L-R): Kenny Wenzel, Phil Wilson, Henry Southall
Saxes(L-R): Tom Anastas(b), Jackie Stevens, Carmen Leggio, Sal Nistico
P: Nat Pierce, D: Jake Hanna, B: Chuck Andrus
