That's a pretty poor comparison IMO. Apple and Microsoft are pretty different companies in their terms of ideals, goals, and what they put their marketing in, along with their strengths and weaknesses. WoW was a good MMO for its time, but its time is over. GW2 is another MMO by another company which is succeeding because its time is just beginning now. In a few years, something is going to overtake GW2, but Microsoft and Apple will likely still be there.

exactly. they both have their perks and their downfalls. in the end they are both great games and i see them both lasting for a very long time.....wait WoW already has been around for a long time lol

About Range Being imbalanced: You said they really are no roles, but that's not true; not entirely anyway. Think about it this way: If everyone was standing there filling a mob full of holes, well, he may decide he doesn't like your hospitality and come over to say hi. But If someone was there bashing his face in with a sword though, he'll might be somewhat less inclined to greet his guest at a distance, and address the ones that are at his door steps ringing his doorbell.
