An address regarding a protest at the FCC
SPREAD THE WORD!

I'm organizing a protest protesting FCC's decision on approving non captioned programs.

THE PROTEST WILL TAKE PLACE ON APRIL 13TH ON A FRIDAY FROM 10 30 AM TO 4 PM AT 455 12TH ST SW WASHINGTON, DC. WE WILL MARCH TO CAPITOL HILL.

THE METRO CAN BE USED TAKING THE ORANGE AND BLUE LINES TO THE SMITHSONIAN STOP AND WALK PAST THE DEPT. OF ARGICULTURE BLDG. ON 12TH ST.

SEE YOU ALL THERE OTHERWISE THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.

I'm Phillip Brown II. I am doing this as a member of the Deaf and HOH community speaking out for my rights and yours too. We live in the 21st century and we ought to be able to switch to any program on TV and have captions on at all times on every channel and also movies and internet TV along with commercials and paid programs. FCC failed to meet Congress' mandate by Jan. 1, 2006 that 100 percent of programs on TV to be captioned. They are continually approving programs' request not to be captioned. I'm aware that NAD and TDI and other organizations are petitioning against these decisions but how long has that been going on without avail. It's time for us the Deaf and HOH citizens to stand up and speak out as a community. Thank you for your support

  • The protest was over two years ago. Unfortunately there was little interest, much to the disappointment of this guy who organized this protest.

The timing is prety good now because there is intense interest about the cc on the Internet. Maybe you or someone else can set up a protest.

  • Hi there,

Hope it is not too late to join you, isn't it?

What can we do about this?

  • I support this cause. Everything should be captioned. I'd also like to see captioning made available with a refreshible braille display hooked up to the TV, too.

  • i totally agree with u. i hear and dont do sign language but nevertheless though still got my support

  • I wish I would have known about this!! I started a closed captioning petition for the movie theaters. Go to the link if you'd like to sign it.
