An original song of mine written in c tuning. Guitar is a 1965 Gibson B25.

Lyrics:

I saw a city, dipped in the wax of night
And I felt some pity, for all the seagulls made of glass
Shattering on its towers as they pass.

And a girl moves in this city
thinking of a dead prophet's dreams
Under the lead eyes of a weeping sky
That like her is not always what it seems
She treads the tearstained long black tarmac streams.

When we meet again in this city,
I'll comment on the glass pigs overhead
And talk of the citizens
Who once loved with us now are dead
Or the future left before us for which they bled

I saw a city, it had cancer sleeping in its hidden mires
But love still lives in this city
It flows through its veins and its wires
And burns in its streetlights and its fires.

  • Love the singing melody to this one. You do a nice job of adding little touches to the finger picking.

Have you considered typing up the lyrics? I find it easier to get into a song when I know what is being sung.

  • I will do that in future, good idea. Glad you like the song.

    @creakybed - nice work

  • Not a fan of the guitar sound you get with the Gibson but I do like your song. Nice melody, feel, singing and guitar picking.

  • Nice song, nice carpet. X ;@)
