John Sykes and I tried to sprint up Mt. Sanford (16,237 ft) via Boulder Creek/Sheep Glacier during John's spring break. We climbed to 15,100 ft (from 1,900) and covered 80 miles in 3 days, 5 hours. We turned around at 15,100 with the sunset,-20 temperature and wind.

  • Hey how was touring and shooting with the 7D? I'm doing a long tour w/ the same camera, but had any time shooting with it yet. Any tips? Batteries, stability shooting, etc?

  • @jerfle I'm still figuring out a system. Cam w/ lens is ~5 lbs, brutal for an otherwise ultralightist. I can't hold it still on my own so I drilled/glued a mount into a ski pole and whippet. I carry the camera in a chest harness which is only annoying when dealing with rope/hardware. I've been carrying 2 batteries, but would need more for more than a week long trip. I keep the batt in my pocket. Let me know if you want more detail and please share any insights while developing your system.

  • Good effort, did you do this in 2010 or 2011?

  • @forrestmccarthy

Oh crap-- I meant 2011. Thanks Forrest.
