Okay Im convinced that all these "Bang on a can all stars" are simply aliens that crashed to Earth an decided to make "music" despite not having ears. That said, I still like it.

The "Some Less Important Artist" is the composer of the piece. AFAIK, he doesn't actually play on the recording.

I know Thurston Moore both composed and played with Bang on a Can All-Stars.
