It works much the same on a MINI with no nav but you don't have the toggle switch you use the audio controls

Two bottons at bottom of gearstick are the "Menu" and "Home" buttons for the Nav screen

what are the two buttons on the bottom left and right of the gear shifter?

in a mini without the nav you just plug it in. then you click on the "audio" button on your radio area. then choose "ipod" and then you should be able to choose a song or playlist
