  • He got an EEG done a few months ago, (he's almost 18 months) and it didn't show anything. His right side was always weaker, and still is. He didn't hold anything in his right hand or touch anything with his right hand until 14 months! He is still in therapy for that hand. Nobody knows why its like that?

  • I took him to his ped today, she wasn't too concerned but said we'll watch to see if he outgrows it??

  • @pixie1310 Has he been to see a neuro it almost looks like he is having an absnce seizure. Absence seizures are one of the more common seizures my daughter has.

  • Its very hard to know what a myoclonic seizure/jerk is until you have actually seen one. My little boys have serve jerks that can stretch to a 20 minute myoclonic seizure. I have plenty of videos if you would like to see. Myoclonic jerks are best described as brief shock like jerks but they can cluster x

  • @pixie1310 my daughter has right sided weakness in her hand & high tone in the entire right side, she has unilateral focal polymicrogyria. basicly, she has lots of tiny wrinkles in one spot of her brain. [hers is on the left side, directly by the crown of her head] she was diagnosed by an MRI at 8 months old.. I noticed at 5 months that she was not reaching/grabbing stuff with the right hand at all, but her left did fine.. her doc also said she was fine. she is 4 years old now..

  • I'm not saying that he doesn't have epilepsy, but it doesn't look like myoclonic seizures. Myoclonics should also show up on the EEG. My son had 100's of them. Myocolnic seizures are very brief. Be very thankful if they are not, because they are very difficult to treat. My son went on several different meds and none worked. He thankfully outgrew them, but has suffered emotional difficulty as a result. Luckily he is still very intelligent. Good luck in your quest for answers.

  • MY son has the same thing with his hands. He does this fast grabbing motion. His left side was weaker but caught up but still has less dexterity and strength. Going for some check ups- physical therapy evaluation and and another neurologist- ist one said he was behind in his gross motor skills but advanced in fine motor skills.

  • No - does not look like myoclonic to me. My daughter has 20+ a day and they look way different. Good luck.

  • This looks like a simple (relatively harmless) Sandifer's Syndrome type of response to me. I'm not an absolute expert - but I have been through it all with my daughter. Have you done any acid reflux tests? I'm betting that's the cause...
