1:24 was herbert muller and franz pesch's crash of 1972 nurburgring 1000km. it was no fatal.

I believe it was a fender, and his name was Maynard Troyer. It was in a 1971 NASCAR race. He had 2 black eyes, which lasted 4 months. He raced again.
