One big difference in the US vs. Europe is fuel tax. In many parts of Europe, diesel is taxed at a lower rate than gasoline (essentially subsidized), resulting in it being cheaper per liter AND providing better economy vs. gas.
In the US, it is priced about enough higher to offset the efficiency benefit and emissions requirements make the initial price of diesel vehicles higher, as well. So, the difference is about government meddling in the market.

i fucking love its sound!!!

Testdrive the 335D and you'll be blown away; 286hp, 580torques, 0-60 in 6 seconds and still able to get 36mpg. Quadruple win!

...seriously?
Of course its available in the US. It is just not usually used for small cars.
its not at all that we dont have diesel fuel here. but people in the US dont want to buy diesel cars. otherwise we'd have alot more to choose from than we currently do. people assume they are loud, and smelly like the trucks we are so familiar with. people also assume they are low on power. most americans are just unfamiliar. that is all. it will catch on eventually i think."

Agreed 100%. A lot of German companies are starting to push diesel a lot more recently. VW, BMW and Mercedes.

There is diesel... mostly for big trucks etc. There are some mercs, and vw tdis around, but mostly just trucks. Its used primarily for the torque in the US than it is for economy. I don't know why though... I would love to have a small diesel powered car for a second car to use as a daily driver to work and back. The best MPG in the US is from the Prius which only gets around 50, small diesels in Europe get in the upper 60's. I don't understand it...

too bad no diesel benz or bmw in usa, Americans are allergic to diesel cars even the big monster 4 wheel drive here are not diesel, all powered by gasoline

There are. Not many though. I have seen several Blutec Mercs around. No diesel BMWs though, I think they are introducing one next year here. And the big 4 wheel drive trucks here are diesel, they uses cummins and powerstroke diesels. Not for economy but for the torque they achieve with diesel.
