My PAU Ultimate maiden flight. Ends after a tail touch. The Weatronic RX log showed lots of RX issues including the locked rudder which was the root cause of the loop into the ground as well as aileron servos not reacting symmetrically. A sickening day for all of us at the field. What a great flying 3D plane for the 3 minutes I flew it! The new one is under construction....

Set-up

-DA100
-Vess 27A prop
-Weatronics 10-20R Gyro GPS RX (going Futaba on the new bird)
-Hitec 5955 servos on all control surfaces (2 on rudder)
-Slimline Showtime Smoke Pump
-LiOn 4800mAh RX batts
-LiOn 2300mAh Ign batt
-Futaba 5960 throttle servo
-Hitec HS-81 choke servo
-Hanger 9 titanium Control linkage
-Kevlar flying wires and rudder pull-pull wires
-SWB dual servo rudder tray

  • you probally striped the servo in the rudder

  • @FlyBoyJJR

Nope no stripped servos. Both rudder servos tested out fine (Titanium gears). The flight log from the receiver showed the servos deflected at a large angle.

  • Stop the video at the 33sec mark, now thats sweet right there!!!!!

  • I know it - pretty cool with the moon in the background!

  • It looks to me like you over controlled it and put it in. It seems the poor radios are getting the blame these days!

  • I'm sure it looks like that, but it wasn't over controlled at all. I'd be glad to send you the radio log off the onboard receiver. The left and right ailerons should never be doing non-symmetrical throws no matter what your thumbs are doing.

  • AWE MAN That Hurts- What a great 3 min though

  • Awsome flight and I feel your pain man

Same thing happen to me last week

  • Thanks! No, the servos tested fine after the crash. I thought the same thing after the crash though. They are Hitect's top of the line 5955 titanium gear digitals and certainly should take a good bump. The RX log confirmed that the RX actually did command the servos to throw - I wish it commanded the servos to do what my thumbs told them to do!!
