Imagine you're Bob, you're in the /pixar/toystory2/cache, you want to clear it out, you do rm * or rm -rf * (remove, recursive force, everything) in that directory. Recursive means it also applies to directories underneath it.

If you're not careful, its absolutely possible to be just one level up, in /pixar/toystory2, run the same command, and delete the whole movie by sheer accident.

You posted that comment to a Linux system. Every server platform has it's place and it's strengths.  It's usually the operator which is the issue.

I'd hate to tell you this shit, but you're using Linux.

Connected to the internet? You're sending communications across potentially hundreds of Linux powered devices. Using an android? Linux kernel. Using a device with a specially embedded OS? Likely Linux.
