We switched locomotives for the return trip back to the Thomaston Station. This time were in Ex Providence and Worcester Exx Conrail U23B, the last U-boat ever produced, #2203. 2203 was carrying a Nathan M3R1T which was the 1st one scene 1995 I got to hear in person. We had a bit of a delay in departure do to a minor technical difficulty. Once we get going, we get to hear the classic C# E A# chord of the M3 as we depart which I of course comment on, and as we hit a crossing.

  • 2203 has another new voice to her. She currently sports a Nathan P3

  • @seagraver cool. I was told by the crew at the shop, that they rotate horns every 2 weeks or so, and they've got a decent collection including an M5, which I couldn't find do time and another M3R1T that's severely damaged, and is being repaired. I was fully expecting it to have a K5LA when I saw it, and was very pleasantly surprised to find the M3R1T on it.

  • Im glad you like the M3, I just rebuilt that horn in April 2011. Its actually the horn for B&M 1508 (Also part of the Naugy) I see you made it there in time for the train from Saybrook with Scott. Hope you had fun, Matt

  • @cybertrain92 Sorry I never got to say goodbye. We were rushing to get up there in time. We got there with 5 minutes to spare. You did a very nice job on it, it sounded great. I saw the busted up one your working on in the shop after the ride. I had such a good time. You'll be seeing a lot more of me down there in 2012 for sure.

  • @Federal3t22 Well, the horn rotation thing is far fetched! Lol! The damaged M3R1T has been repaired and awaits paint. It belongs to MEC 557. The M5 hasn't been on anything in the past 3 years, but we do indeed have a great collection.
