The 72mm Macro / Close-Up Filters (I used +4 and +10 dioptres) I bought off eBay arrived today, so I was filming anything from grass to bees to eyes to peeling paint.

It gets better as it goes on, so keep watching.

It was shot on a Canon XL1 with the original lens. All of the outdoor shots are lit naturally, some inside shots are filmed .
The story is totally up for interpretation... and yes... there is a story (if you can look into symbolism and whatnot).

Songs:
John Murphy -- "Walk To Regents Park" from the 28 Weeks Later soundtrack.
Akira Yamaoka -- "Roundabout Lakeside Amusement Park" from the Silent Hill Complete Soundtrack.

The young girl is my niece, Elise (4 years 7 months old).

  • goodness..how did you it to upload in HD like this?

  • It's just the export settings. I exported it through Adobe Media Encoder within Premiere Pro as a H.264 file.

  • beautiful imagery my friend. Question about your XL1. It cannot shoot HD, I am aware of that. At full res is the image quality good? One thing I really hate is the squashed images if you shoot 16:9. If you buy a monitor, does it display in true widescreen?

  • The quality is really good at full res. You might be able to see if you check out some of my "HD" videos on YouTube. It depends on the lighting, though... it doesn't look great if the shutter is below 150/sec.

Yeah, it plays in true widescreen. It's not just superimposed bars, it's a stretch.

  • everybodys looked at peoples faces close up. this is a little stupid

  • It's alright.

  • Yes thats right! :)

ive been searching more.. and i get it now.

thanks alot for your time :)

  • That's just rediculous. I'll search for you.

It's got 43mm threads, so you can get a 43mm macro filter.

Most cameras (digital photography) have a 55mm thread, so you can get a step-up from 43mm-55mm, which will allow you to use a 55mm lens.

  • i read something that with the twoneil adapter i can use as the achromat this : Opteka 10x 58mm HD² Professional Macro Lens but its with the adapter ,

so without the adapter its : 43-55mm step-up ring --> 55mm Opteka HD 10x --> 55mm Rotateable CPL filter -->55-60mm step up ring

Does this sound like its logical?

  • Yeah, I got 3 macro filters (+1, +4, +10) in a leather case brand new for like $40 including postage.

I don't know about the HV30. If it has lens threads, then yes, but it is unlikely that it would be a 72mm thread (because I'm pretty sure the HV series are smaller). Do a Google search.
