The Moro footwork and the Sikaran- kicking/ trapping/ knee strikes within the Pendulum flow. Maestro Sonny Umpad's ~ Visayan Style Corto Kadena Eskrima is demonstrated by Jay Pugao, Ken Ingram, and Greg Manalo as they execute multiple possible techniques and applications within the 'flow / pendulum' utilizing the Moro and Sikaran footwork targeting the "folding hinges" (ankles, knees, and hips (groin area)) at a more practical level before going for the higher kicks (like the "Biakid" or "Panghilo" or "Pandamba" ) and higher targets (like the head and upper body).

  • the reason that Capoeira and Kali look similar is because they were both disguised as dance during Brazilian and Filipino colonial rule.

  • Beautiful poetry with the feet.

  • This is some cool stuff, question for people who know fma. What style of dance do you recommend to compliment Filipino martial arts?

  • Very nice jay. Jay and Maija is top best in movement.

  • Good stuff! I've seen other posts that have watered-down karate-like moves. Thanks for sharing.

  • @truheart4lyfe original kuntao is no longer existing in the Philippines. It is a kung fu of taoist priest. when taosug came to learn this art they name it as kungfu ng taosug. then it was named again as "kunsagradong Hataw" (Kuntaw) If I am wrong well I accept and hear correction.

  • OK... how come majority of the posters here (or any other martial arts videos for that matter) always ask "I don't think this would work in a real street fight!!!" Do you all go out of your way looking for actual street fights? Don't even bother learning martial arts! Just go out there and find a bum and beat the crap out of him if that's what you want... sheesh!

Awesome video though! I hope I'm half as good as you guys! Pagpugay sa inyo!

  • @willw00ds I think you mean spanish/portuguese rule. The Portuguese ruled Brazil. The spanish conquered the Philipines

  • Look at the great footwork

  • ang ganda tingnan.. sarap panoorin... sa totoo lang mas magaganda ang mga martial arts natin kesa sa ibang mga lahi eh... kulang lang tayo sa pagtangkilik..

  • I do see Silat influence. I guess there are several similarities in Indonesian and Filipino martial arts, it's just a matter of development and variations in technique.
