  • Raising a glass or two to you tonight.long may your music have

    influence over many.

    Sleep tight Billy MacKenzie

  • please upload more of this

  • Sorry,I've uploaded all I have of this gig

  • too bad the mix on this is so bad; it is ALWAYS best to stand as close to the sound board as possible; go figure - this is close to stage for a great picture, but too much subwoofer and piano- Claudia's voice is really wonderful, but subtle... here you can't hear anything. too bad

  • Well,I wasn't gonna stand anywere else than at the front of the stage, these are not MENT to be definitive versions of the covers,I'll leave that to the artists(I Did try a few years back to get Claudia and a few others to record covers, but alas),these are personal memories of the gig I thought I'd share.nothing more, nothing less. The Artists concerned LIKE them as memories and I'm happy with that.

  • @NAT4TONY I know what the problem was... The artists gave it their all. But the audience didn't come... No matter how great the performances, a half-full venue is always going to make it seem like a bad gig...

  • @misseuphoriabliss We did enjoy Brucken's versions of Running up that hill and heaven 17's set but over all the gig seemed like a half hearted gesture for someone of Billy's talent and legacy. I mean, who the frick are Mower! Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it all, was good seeing Billy on a big screen too!

  • @NAT4TONY I think you're wrong. I thought it was all wonderful.

  • APU! Just checking out YouTube stuff and get a posting forum where individuals who have no clue as to whom they respond but but see fit to be abusive. What have we become as a life-form? Time to exit this planet me thinks and hand it over to pond life. You know who you are.

  • Sincere thanks to you Will for capturing a few moments for us to remember the night by. It wasn't an easy thing for us to do. I guess I thought it'd bring some kind of closure, but that was niave, nothing ever will, the space he left is just too big. It always amazes me when self-professed "fans" start issuing fatwas and proclamations, when they don't know shit from clay about the people or the circumstances. You'd think 13 years was long enough to get used to someone not being around. It isn't.

  • Also check out Heaven 17's superb version of Party Fears Two. The 7min 20sec version is best

  • I totally agree, there is no way Billy McKenzie would be as mean spirited as fans such as gggggaaaaarrrrryyyyy. OK it's very sad that he died but some people are just too obsessed and one-eyed. I love Associates but I love lots of other bands from that era too, Propaganda and OMD included. Also the recording quality of Breakfast on here makes it difficult to judge the quality of the performance, you really needed to hear the version released on Claudia's "Another Language", and it's lovely.

  • That's just my point! For someone who appeared on their albums and a favourite of Billy's to then pretend that she'd had some special t-shirt printed suggest she was the only one who knew why they were at the gig, just seemed as bit of an empty gesture. And I'm sure Billy would be very grateful for the full 10mins she contributed to the gig, not to mention the 2 hours the audience (including myself)spent, aswell as their money,to attend the debacle!

  • Some fan you are if you havent got a clue who Christine Beverage is..the insult is you attack people who gave up their time for a charity gig in Memory Of Billy

  • I went to this "Tribute" night, and it was so bad that it's still held as a benchmark for crapness by me and the friend I went with!

An event that failed in celebrating a talent and person such as Billy, having some woman as part of it, making a speech, claiming to be a best friend of his and announcing that she knew why she was there that night before proudly pointing to her chest where the clothing label "Mckenzie" was emblazoned on the front of her T-shirt! Fucking insult or what!?
