Crystal springs used to be part of a larger strip of marsh land that spread about 2 miles long from about SE Powell to SE Tacoma streets. At least that's how it appears on a cadastral survey map from 1856.

It's my favorite park. I've been going there since I was an infant. I remember when you could feed the ducks bread, and grain. Certain parts of the park seem to have a timeless aspect to them, like you were there for hours -- even if only 30 minutes passed. May and June are the best times to come -- Although it looks eerie during a silver thaw.
