The french discovered LAV first. Luc Montagnier isolated LAV, the microbe that caused GRIDD. He sent a sample to Gallo who then renamed it HTLV-III. Later on Bruce Voheler suggested that it should be called HIV. Gallo stole the virus from the French and got the first patent for the first test. But it was the French who discovered HIV first. Gallo will never ever receive a Nobel Prize because of his behavior.

Gallo is a fraud who pretended the HTLV virus was responsible for AIDS & then tried to make the HIV virus (discovered by Dr Montagnier) pass as the HTLV3 Virus.

HIV was discovered in January 1983 in France at the Pasteur Institute by a team of scientist led by Luc Montagnier.
