Unit: Five
Level(s): Command Center & Cargo Bay II
Secrets in this part: Two
Command Center: Two (Two in total)
Cargo Bay: None (Five in total)
Difficulty: Hard

KABOOM!

It's all going off in this one! You've got Gladiators firing their Phalanxes, Guards firing their Hyperblasters and Lasers at me, Icari swooping down from above and if all of that wasn't hard enough to deal with; before you're able to exit the Moon Base, the Makron makes a return in his Jorg battlesuit!

That's right! You didn't think you'd seen the last of the Quake II variant of the Makron did you?! After being defeated in the Final Showdown in Quake II, the Strogg must've have quickly got their arses in gear and built a new one with exactly the same flaws and weaknesses as the old one had! But then again, this time around, he causes me a LOT more problems due to myself not holding on to a Quad Damage and Invulnerability to take him down with. I do have a spare Quad Damage but he proves to be more resilient in this fight.

Because of this, the final battle against him drags on for a tedious amount of time until he finally decides to succumb to my whaling on him. He was probably getting bored himself!

After that, it's time to abandon ship and escape the unstable Moon Base, defeat the last Gladiator standing in my path, commandeer a spare ship (that fortunately no other Strogg bothered to use) and get the hell off this rock!

Phew! I never said it was going to be easy! But, what's done is done.

---------------------------------------

Command Center:

Secret One: 0:29 - 0:35. To your left at the start is a power generator. Above the generator is a switch you can shoot to open up a Secret area behind you with an Ammo Pack inside.

Secret Two (Final Secret of the Game): 1:35 - 1:46 & 12:20 - 12:27. In the outside area with patches of ice, one frozen patch can be blown open to reveal a Secret area with some Combat Armor.

---------------------------------------

Thus ends my Quake II: The Reckoning playthrough.

Hope you've enjoyed watching my videos as much I have playing through and recording them.

Next time, the story arc of Quake II comes to a close as another Bitterman-clone known as Stepchild is drafted into Stroggos with the mission of taking out the new weapon in the Strogg's lethal arsonry known as the Gravity Well.

There, you see? That's where the name of that particular Sonic Mayhem track comes from!

See you all in Ground Zero!

  • if you compare quake 2 and quake 4 with each other, it's just a shame how bad quake 4 actually was...

  • @Impaa Despite its flaws, I quite liked Quake 4. The first two Quake games will always be better (the first one being one of my all-time favourite shooters) but there's something about Quake 4 I keep coming back to. The same could be said about Doom 3. Although saying that, I detest the vehicle sections in Q4; they're a snorefest.
