'Science Operations On Planetary Surfaces - Field Test in a Box (SOOPS-FTB), is a software tool that combines the MER operations interface (Maestro), with the MTP rover control software system (CLARAty), and the simulation environtment (ROAMS). The image above shows screenshots from these three constiuent tools. By combining them, the SOOPS-FTB system enables simulated rover missions, providing a venue for testing new operations and control software, or training new operators. Using software simulated missions, in lieu of field tests or real mission days, provides greated flexibility and cost savings.'
