The reason I think he's talking about smoking is because he sings "it is pretending to mind it doesn't care/it's taking your time/ it doesn't matter what you feel/ it's hotter then steel/ one day we'll find the reason why" by these lyrics he's talking about the addiction to smoke "It's hotter then steel/it doesn't matter what you feel" the nicotince doesn't care how you feel simply that it wants you keep smoking it, keep making yourself feel better and becoming more addicted to it
