The bootscreen of Windows 7 Build 6956 as seen from VirtualPC running on Windows Vista x64.

The only videos I have seen so far have been blurrycam ones so I thought I would share this right from a Virtual terminal.

Please note that as it is a virtual computer it is not capable of displaying the full aero interface we would expect and what is seen is the new equivelent of aero basic.

  • You can't download from Microsoft anymore, but I guess there are other places.

I am not sure what the availablity of the release candidate will be, but it can't be too far away.

  • where did you download it from? i really want it.. i was gonna download from microsoft but then i read it only works until 20/08, then you have to buy windows 7 or reset to old OS

  • I am a beta tester.

  • If you install this version of Windows 7 on Virtual PC 2007 Service pack 1 then do the Virtual Machine Additions work on it?

  • Oh, although I have noticed that dragging and dropping files onto the desktop from outside the virtual environment doesn't work so well!

  • The Windows Release Candidate is coming out soon. That's the full version of windows 7 for free. If you want I can send you the link (From the official Microsoft site, but just google it).

  • can you give a link to the beta or is it closed down?

  • Very much not true :)

Of course a look can always be copied but there is much more going on.

  • apparently there is no difference between vista and 7 only 7 is made for table pc's but other than that and the theme there the same. if you want the 7 theme for vista you can download it from many place as i am using it now.

  • Yeah, seems to work fine. The older build I was using didn't seemto like custom resolutions but this one has been working with no issues.
