@ogi415 The F-117 was old stealth technology as was due to be retired. Thirty years for a stealth bird in service is a long time. Besides, the B-2 replaced it's needs.

@TheTequilaShooter Service does not mean anything ... and why would they retire it if it was so good ? Mig-21's(1959), su-25's(1978) are still being used...

@ogi415 Dude, the F-117 was retired becasue it was in service for nearly 30 years. It conducted thousands of missions and only one was shot down. That is a very impressive record. The F-22 is kicking ass in exercises and has no equivalent. It's production was cut short for economic reasons, plus the cold war is over. It's just like France and the UK both cutting back their purchases of the EF & Rafale, too. It's just a sign of the times. We'll have to wait and see about the F-35.

@TheTequilaShooter 5 days to be exact. Plus losses are 1 tu-22, 1 mi-24, 3 su-25's and 2 su-24's are lost. How many nations are building these except for the US ? F117 - retired in 2008, F22 - production canceled f35 is still not in use, but words are it's worse than the f22, the B2 is probably the only stealth aircraft that is successful but a price of 1 billion each, seriously ?

@ogi415 The war in Georgia lasted less than a week & still Russia lost ~7 aircraft from SAM systems that it should have been able to defeat. That's a lot of aircraft in such a short time. No one ever said the F-117 was "invisible" but that it's more difficult to detect than legacy aircraft. If a stealth aircraft was so easy to detect with 60's technolgy do you really think that so many nations would be building steatlh fighters today at such an expensive cost. Use common sense

@TheTequilaShooter How much aircraft did russia lose in georgia ? No more than 10 ... Still, te f117 got shot down by a sam from 1963... Thought it was invisible ?

@ogi415 The F-117 went on thousands of missions & only 1 was shot down. That's not so impressive when you see how many aircraft Russia lost in just one week in Georgia. + The F-117 that was shot down was due more to bad mission planning than Russian tech. US commanders admitted screwing up by having the F-117 take the same flight path 4 nights straight at the same time at night. It's not too hard to shoot down a plane when you know when and where it will be. + The F22 is maneuverable

@TheTequilaShooter Only thing stealth ever did is waste money and fuck up the aircraft's speed and maneuverabillity. If it was that good, a f117 wouldn't get shot down by a SAM from 1963 ...

@Russia2010 In terms of what really makes the F-22 a fith generation fighter jet. And also we dont put aircraft in development by order of the state like Russians do. We do it by private compitition and some times team work with other companies. Your'e aircraft wont turn out as good if they are put in development by the Russian state government

@Russia2010 Russia2010 We are way ahead of you in Stealth technology i have a friend as well as an aquaintence of mine who reviewed the the differences between the T-50 PAK FA and the F-22 Raptor along with me and the stealth capability in the T-50 is actually very poor at best. Thats basicly why the T-50 is cheaper than the F-22. The reason nobody is allowed to buy the F-22 is because it is so advanced and the even USA civilians are not allowed to know about them!
