@mspossum - What a great story! I was shocked when I heard that my mom and her younger sister, at just 14 & 13, were in the 2nd row at The Hollywood Bowl when they first saw The Beatles. Without an adult! Times sure have changed...
I was there! With astonishing trust and understanding, my pretty cool parents bought my sister (13) and I (9) tickets, drove us to Red Rocks, waited for us in the parking lot, and probably heard the concert better than we did.
They knew what the Beatles meant to us. Mom had even taken us to the airport to see them arrive. I can't imagine dropping a nine-year-old off for a concert today. I also can't imagine having to make a withdrawal from savings to buy a concert ticket ($6.50 a pop).
As far as a sellout goes, the concert did not sellout in ticket sales, but the 9,000 seat amphitheatre was full, including hundreds more who snuck in and sat on the rocks.
This is a fact. I was there. My late father (Verne Byers) was the promoter.

They performed more than 6 songs, their setlist was 10 songs in 30 minutes. The fans couldn't have taken much more!
A 30 minute lovefest!

Great video. That must have been amazing. I love Red Rocks even though that climb kills me very time! Heading up tomorrow night for Maroon 5.

It's the only concert in all their tours that they never sold out.
